Lakes of Blood and Ash
The Three-score Contained Furies of Rosh
The Glitter Flame is fenced by the power of volcanoes west and east. Ever it has been depolulated and seen as the most likely direction to fall to the Wyld. The mighty mountain ranges and the volcanoes that rule them, they are the wall to stymie that eventuality. The Roshes know well that duty almost came to pass eight hundred years ago. Only the sacrificed of millions of elementals under the leadership of the venerable Swan Dragon held back the tide, mostly. Great sacrifices were made, the land was changed forever. The centuries have been quiet since, the charges of the Roshes have been allowed to recover their incalculable stores of power and the brothers have spoken of things to come.
This pall of mystery and pregnant waiting hangs over the court as well. The lords often define the emotions that resonant down through their court members. The elementals of Earth keep to the mountains and are rarely seen by the mortal folk. They check carefully every surface above and below for cracks and weaknesses in the volcano fortresses and have fret endlessly at the flows of earth that no longer nourish the bindings. The older look down into the valley and recall a time the earth could be seen there and they sing the old earthsongs. It brings them peace, yet even still, they know there are notes they can not hear. So, they look to the volcano lords, as ever they have.
The Brothers Rosh Crowned in Fire and Thunder
The Roshes are brothers in duty, the firmest bond a spirit can hold. The understand one another in ways few spirits can through their tasks of tending their charges. Yet, each is wholly different and shaped by it’s past and it’s charge as well. Eldest and greatest Aktoa is the god of the mountain range, his brothers existing within, his charges. Their welfare and all that of the South rides on his broad shoulders, a being of serious diligence and constant vigil, a being heavy weighed in the soul and heart. The middle brother is Tamumua and he is cunning and intelligent. He was bid save much of his strength in the fight against Balor and for this had some left to purify the land of it’s dead and their disease. He is always looking to the relationships between spirits and finds humans an alien thing. The other brothers trust his planning, though Aktoa sets the agenda to work within. Finally, there is the firebrand Kimbo. A being who enjoys the fast lives and energy of mortals as they have drawn close to his domain. He has the most priests despite his smaller size and many blessings are attributed to him. He is loud, proud of his power and quick to show it. The brothers trust him to be a distraction and an honest face. In truth, Rosh keeps his secrets well and loves his family beyond all else. Happy only that he can play his role in protecting the South.
