Lakes of Blood and Ash
Reproduction with the Pollardborn - Female
When the aberrant thought first entered the minds of the Pollardborn they feared it. For decades they turned towards those made in their image and nothing came of it. Eventually the Pollarborn of the Sealouse took decaying bodies of humans and began to examine them. They were so different from their own design. Parts, pieces, and chakras totally unakin to those made in their own image. The mystery became greater when living samples were taken. The flows of essence that fed through these chakras, truly the working of the Makers. These were trace amounts of wyld essence that fluctuated between sleep and wakefulness and even during periods of extreme stress. It was found they had two spirits with one bound to the heavens and the other disposed of, the Pollardborn Akkorokamui surmised that the heavenly soul must be different that those given to their kin and recycled. The other based on their own kin and mechanisms in Yu’Shan continuously replicated more.
Based on these similarities it was determined that the grain of wyld in the higher soul might be sufficient to allow successful consummation. Though it must be said none of the initial efforts carried even close to term. The size of the progeny of the Pollardborn would never allow such advanced gestation, but immortals have nothing but time to innovate. In time drugs were developed that would induce the ovaries to divest the entirety of their store and when the procedure was held during the time of the flush, countless eggs could be implanted. The size incompatibilities remained, but a procedure was developed to remove the birthing shell and unfold it in a feathery, scarlet mat rife with the pearls of life. The next step was keeping this organic field alive. An issue solved by allowing minor servitor spirits in the courts of the sea-stars to possess the mortals and upon the death of other tissues, remaining with the birthing component and blessing it with regenerative capabilities. Alchemical fluids were then developed to provide for the nutrients of the growing godlings even as hosts of ensorcelled cleaning shrimp were bound to remove waste.
So it was that the first of the Niobraran were born to spread the blood. These bore the greatest number of the Pollards blessings. Massive forms with tremendous longevity. They could use powers akin to what were know among Exalts as charms as the Pollardborn had long been masters of land and sea and nursed deeply on the wisdom and laws of their makers when the wold was quiet of all else. True, these scarlet fields of bleeding meat yet grow in the deeps in protected pools, but the Pollards are few now and the act of defying the laws of their kind is draining. Now, the Niobraran spawn upon mortal flesh as the first-born sire the second and on unto the tenth, all but mortal in their form.
